OUR HISTORY
Church of the Eternal Hills has deep roots in the Fraser Valley and Grand County community. Our story began in 1905, when a Presbyterian congregation was first established in Fraser, Colorado. As the congregation grew, members built the historic Fraser Presbyterian Church, a building that still stands today as the beloved community gathering place known as “The Church of What’s Happening Now.”
In the early years of Grand County, travel between Fraser and Granby was difficult, especially during the long mountain winters. Because of this, another Presbyterian congregation formed in 1927 in the Granby area, eventually worshiping in the old Lutheran log church building.
For many years, the two congregations served their local communities separately while sharing common faith and Presbyterian traditions. In the 1980s, the congregations formally united under one leadership as the Presbyterian Church of the Eternal Hills, while continuing to worship in both Fraser and Granby.
In 1998, the congregation embraced a shared vision to “meet in the middle,” and construction began on a new church home in Tabernash. Worship services officially began in the current church building in 2002, creating one unified home for the congregation and its ministries.
Since then, Church of the Eternal Hills has continued to grow not only as a place of worship, but also as a center for community connection, care, and fellowship throughout Grand County. In 2020, through Project 20/20, the church expanded its facilities to create “The Center,” a flexible gathering space designed to serve youth, families, adults, seniors, and community organizations throughout the county.
Today, Church of the Eternal Hills continues its mission as a welcoming mountain community with open minds, open hearts, and open arms — honoring its history while continuing to grow in faith, service, and connection.
